Battle for the Hill Wiki

The Socialist Party was a minor political party first introduced to Battle for the Hill during Iteration 5. It has made intermittent appearances in multiparty iterations since then, including Iteration 8, Iteration 10, Iteration 11.5, and Iteration 13.

Iteration 5[]

During Iteration 5, the Democratic Socialist Party (or "demsocs"), then chaired by Lucifer Morningstar, achieved a victory in the first presidential election of that iteration. This pitched general featured candidates from seven other parties (most notably Donald J. Trump from the Republican Party) and was decided by a margin of 0.009% in Pennsylvania. However, after President Altaha won re-election, the party entered a steady decline, with its members becoming progressively more inactive. This resulted in dominance of the Republican Party during the remainder of the iteration. Following the reset to Iteration 6, the Democratic Socialist Party was removed.

Iteration 8[]

The party would return (under the banner of the "Socialist Party" for the first time) in Iteration 8. It was led by the former members of the Socialist Workers Caucus (an Iteration 7 caucus from the Democratic Party). The party would suffer from the effects of a penalty issued at the start of the iteration for its duration (having been issued a starting State Party Strength of 50% in comparison to the 100% of the two major parties). However, they also began the iteration with membership at similar levels to the major parties, as a number of left-leaning Iteration 7 Democrats had defected during reset. This allowed the Socialist Party to start the iteration as the second largest party in the House of Representatives and the National Governors Association, in addition to allowing them to take the seat of the Speaker of the House. Following the reset to Iteration 9, the Socialist Party was removed.

Iteration 11.5[]

The party returned in Iteration 11.5, but had the smallest member count (of only twenty six members) of all five parties at its start. The party joined a Grand Coalition with (alongside the Democratic Party, the Green Party, the No Labels Party, and the America First Party) to oppose the Republican Party. This coalition allowed the party to fully concentrate on many of the most liberal states the in Atlantic Northeast, Greats Lakes, and on the West Coast. Gene Ween served as the inaugural chair during this iteration until he was unseated by Josiah Maddox, who was then also unseated by Gears Braixen. This turmoil was fueled by scandal, including an instance when Chairman Gene Ween accused Josiah Maddox of espionage for the Republican Party. Following the reset to Iteration 12, the Socialist Party was removed and many of its former members flocked to the Democratic Party, joining the United Congress of Socialists Caucus under the leadership of Joe Wong.

Iteration 13[]

Following an effort near the end of Iteration 12 that involved members of the United Congress of Socialist Caucus lobbying and organizing several petitions, the Socialist Party returned in Iteration 13. While it was originally planned that the party would mainly consist of members from that caucus and other Socialists in diaspora, nearly the entirety of the Democratic Party from Iteration 12 in addition to the majority of the remnants of the Great GOP Migration followed suit. This resulted in the party quickly becoming the largest of all four parties in that iteration, surpassing 100 members by its second day. Three of the seven presidents elected during that iteration were members of the Socialist Party (xIcebeam, Chets Minnette, and John Jay), but both Gavin Newsom and Luke Recks had also been members of the Socialist Party during that iteration (Newsom after his term as president, and Recks before his term as president). Despite several internal conflicts, including those related to the 2044 Socialist Party presidential primaries, Iteration 13 concluded as the most successful in the history of the Socialist Party.
