Background[]
The preceding events/background surrounding the mass migration of GOP leadership accompanied by members of the Republican party are recorded in the September GOP Collapse page. Therefore it won't be explained here.
Timeline of Events[]
The Rumors[]
Rumors began spreading among certain bfth players that high-level members of the Republican Party were planning on defecting to the Democratic Party. Some members of Democratic leadership (Alycia Carey, Pete Buttigieg) were aware of this plot beforehand but chose to be vague/secretive about the plot. Democratic discord admin, Alycia Carey, had unbanned certain GOP leadership members who had been previously banned in preparation for the migration.
The Democratic Border Crisis[]
September 23rd, 2024, some GOP members migrated to the Democratic Party and demanded to be roled in the Democratic discord server. This put then-Chairman Flynn, Vice Chairman Minnette, Treasurer Mondale, and other members of Democratic Senior Leadership in a difficult position. It was originally decided and announced that the GOP defectors would not be allowed into the Democratic Party discord because of the allegations of toxicity and fear of espionage. Public Democratic channels like #deep-space were swarmed by GOP defectors demanding to be let in as they were technically members of the Democratic Party.
The Negotiation[]
A private group chat was set up by Vice Chair Minnette to discuss certain terms and conditions if the GOP defectors were to be allowed in the Democratic server. The group chat comprised Chairman Flynn, Vice Chair Minnette, Treasurer Mondale, Fmr. GOP Chair Geneva, Fmr. GOP Vice Chair Hawaii, Fmr. Democratic Chair Alycia Carey, The terms that were set mainly had to do with limiting the level of toxicity that may occur if they were allowed in the server. The agreement also barred GOP defectors from forming any "GOP Association" and limited their ability to run for national leadership. The GOP defectors agreed to the terms and were allowed into the server. It was also revealed that then frontrunner for Democratic Chair, Pete Buttigieg, had made a deal with Geneva that they'd be allowed in the server with access to the war department once he became chair as long as they supported him.
The Backlash/ Effects of the Agreement[]
Once the GOP defectors were granted access to the Democratic server, it sent shockwaves through bfth as almost no one believed Democratic leadership would let them in. The democratic membership count in bfth grew from a little over 100 to 150 members, the largest in the game at the time. Due to past history with Geneva and Hawaii Democratic War Director and Fmr. No Labels chair, Frank Underwood defected to the Republican Party with the intention of running for chairman and seizing the party's leadership (an unsuccessful bid). Meanwhile, rumors of the coalition, the alliance between the No Label's Party and the Democratic Party that defeated the Republican Party, being dissolved began to spread since the main enemy had surrendered and moved to the Democrats. Other high-profile Democrats to leave the party are DNC Presiding Officer Wanda Maximoff, Fmr. Vice Chairman Richard Dempsey, and Fmr. Chairman Pete Buttigieg. While GOP members flocked to the Democratic Party, Democratic Party members flocked to the No Labels Party. The political landscape of the game drastically changed with many seeking to seize what was left of the Grand Old Party. Members of the Democratic senior leadership who allowed the GOP defectors in also faced heavy criticism from No Labels leadership and some Democratic members.
